Welcome to Wonder Woman Wednesday! Every Wednesday we feature women who are using their business or work as a force for good. The intention behind this blog is to raise awareness on the impact of doing good and to inspire others to think of ways in which they too can use their business or work as a force for good. By doing this we hope we will be creating a better community one business at a time and leaving this world a little bit better than we found it for future generations.

Tell us about your business and how you use your work as a force for good?

I am the Chief Editor for Travel Play Live, Australia’s only adventure lifestyle magazine for women. My goal is to share diverse tales that inspire and empower women to be adventurous, dream big and connect with similarly passionate people. We showcase intelligent, positive and informative content that is focused on supporting women to be part of an active lifestyle. We care about wellness and sustainability, and we encourage every woman to embrace her inner wild.

What led you to using your business as a force for good?

I was drawn to the role because I believe in the value of building a community of women who support each other to succeed. There is so much to be gained from encouraging, including and enabling people from all walks of life to participate in a positive way. I am regularly blown away by what can be achieved by a group of like-minded individuals working together around a common interest. We all have unique talents and insights to offer, and I am fortunate to be in a position where I can share diverse views with the world.

What inspires you to make a difference in the lives of others?

In my 20s I was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and classified as legally blind. While it was an incredible shock to know I would lose my sight, it spurred me on to pursue a career that was aligned closely to my values. I am passionate about equity and access and have worked for many years in roles focussed on improving the health and wellbeing of others.

What is one act that anyone can do today to make this world a better place?

Be curious and kind. We all have a past and experiences that influence what we believe and what we consider to be important. Rather than judging someone or making assumptions, take the time to get to know people. Invite others to share what is meaningful to them, and discover what brings them joy. Embark on a conversation with the intent to listen and learn rather than simply waiting for your turn to speak.

The Power of Hope

We believe there’s no such thing as an ‘ordinary’ human.
We know inspiration is strong enough to move mountains and change pathways.
We embrace all the intricacies of life and honour the transformative potential of challenges.
True Life Stories connects hearts through the power of storytelling.

The concept was born with consideration for the next generation.

So, if you’re working with a school or organisation who’d like to join us correcting the imbalance of social media and regular news, we’d love to hear from you. You can also help us by getting behind the positive story movement by becoming a sponsor.
